1. Put the sample on the actual screen plane
Tape or otherwise secure the sample flat against the wall where the finished screen would sit. Do not tilt it toward yourself. Directional UST materials are angle-sensitive, so changing the sample angle can change the result.
2. Align the projector before judging the material
Get the UST projector as close as practical to its final position. If you are still moving the projector around, you are changing two variables at once.
3. Use your real picture settings
Do not switch to an unusually bright demo mode unless that is how you plan to watch. Test the settings you actually use for movies, TV, sport and gaming.
4. Compare multiple scenes
- Dark scene with shadow detail.
- Bright outdoor scene.
- Faces and skin tones.
- White subtitles or menus on a dark background.
- Fast sport or gaming if motion content matters to you.
5. Change the room light, not the camera exposure
If you take comparison photos, lock exposure where possible. Phone cameras automatically brighten dark images and can make side-by-side screen comparisons misleading.
6. Check every important seat
Look from the center, ends of the sofa and any second row. If the screen will be watched while standing or from a kitchen area, test that too.
7. Keep expectations realistic
An A4 sample cannot demonstrate full-screen uniformity, frame tension, assembly quality or how a large panel handles seams. It is primarily a material and room-light test.
